Kinara Village

Kinara village as the same suggests is a wonderfully crafted rural themed dhaba that has amazing food to offer while connecting you to true India. Wells, small huts, small temples, manjees(thatt), camel rides and astrologers make you feel you in interiors of this incredible country.

It is always a sheer pleasure to visit this place as the ambience and the setting of this place brings peaceful and a delightful experience.
Mostly crowded on weekends, you will not mind coming to this place after a long drive. Yeah, but sometimes the long waiting queue, or long service time takes away the whole essence of visiting this Dhaba.

Kinara has its own set of loyalists. You will find mostly the young crowd as well as families (travelling specially from Mumbai) here.
Speaking about the food, the portions sizes are good enough to make you feel fat. The overall presentation and taste of food is pretty good. BUT Beware - They use a lot of synthetic food colours.
The service time is long enough but that assures that food is served fresh.

Some of the dishes which I will recommend - Chicken Aftab, Veg Milli Jhulli, Tandoori Starters , kulchas & stuffed Nana's and obviously the butter Chicken.

PS - If you are travelling or in hurry, do ask the server about the dishes that can be served quickly, otherwise you will be left waiting with your mouth watering with the lingering aromas of the food.

I’m extremely excited to mention their ‘strawberry mint julep’ – it is mindful blend of fresh strawberry, fine chopped mint and their organic colours. The aroma of strawberry and mint entices your taste buds and refreshes your senses, making it a worthy drink for that ambience!

Followed by Limited Edition Mango Drink – It was simple yet elegant & No frill Drink. The taste was predictable, but fresh mango pieces made it irresistible.

Indian Delicacies vary significantly from each other with its local ingredients and traditional cooking methods. The chef excels in conquering all the flavours making their food the USP of this place.

Apart from offering the range of diversified Indian classical Indian fare, they also serve lip-smacking Chinese and Oriental Cuisine.
Veg Platter

From well-assorted veg platter to flavoursome non-veg platter, we have had plethora of options to grub upon. In all, we have had Naram Dilli Kebab, Methi Corn Seekh Kebab, Paneer Tikka, Mushroom Tandoori, Potato & Cauliflower Tandoori in Veg Platter and Reshmi Tikka, Pahadi Tikka,Tandoori Murg, Prawns, Nizami Seekh Kebab in Non-Veg one. It doesn’t end here, they have three different chutneys/sauces – Mint chutney, mustard chutney & tomato based chutney and they are best accompaniments with the snacks. From Fish tikka with mustard sauce, to perfectly tasting hot n sour soup filled with exotic veggies, it was truly a magnificent feast.
Non-veg Platter

Since we were too full after appetisers, Mr. Prakash Kotian advised us to try something from oriental menu and brought us Thai Curry with steamed rice. Basil and Seasoned mushrooms made it amazing with its delicate flavours.

In desserts, they got us Madhur Milap - a wonderful concoction of Gulab Jamun on bed of Bundi topped with rich and Creamy Rabdi and a thick layer of Solidified Milk served in a cocktail glass and I must say that it was exceptional.

We ended this Gastronomical journey with pan shots.

The Bombay Canteen, Lower Parel.

This place has a classy and quirky look with a formal ambience. This review has been due for a longer time  and now I am happy to finally round it off. As I am writing this review, my mouth is watering just thinking about the food.

The yellow rickshaw at the entrance with high Ceilings and bricked wall give it an old Bombay look. As it is tucked in kamla mill compound you can except some corporate crowd at day time and on weekends this restaurant runs full and you might have to wait a little to get a table (They dont take  reservations).

Honestly speaking, I got confused with the menu as it contained things which I generally avoid eating at home -arbi, baingans, the legendary ALU Vadi which I am avoiding since I was born. and some which I eat very often being a punjabi - Gobi, parathas, sarson ka saag etc etc..
As I was with one of my hard core Vegetarian friend - the non-veg was out of bound for me..

It took me a little while as I was going through the menu again and again in search of something that is different and I can order.

We started off with the Egg Kejriwal as it seemed simple yet it was an  amazing affair. The thepala Tacos and kutchi Dabeli were good and something innovative.
For drinks I have called for a Passion Fruit Ice tea and it was refreshing and brilliant.

Every dish is unique and has a whole different taste - just like the varied culture of our Country. The staff was courteous and patient enough and guided us through the menu and recommend some of the good dishes. The service is very efficient and well organised as they knew the servers has to spend a good amount of time recommend and guiding guest through the simple yet complicated menu.
Speaking about the main course
The crispy Alu Vadi's dunked in a subtle and lightly spiced Dahi Curry and served with a side portion of Kandha poha

.

I missed their Kothu Roti with the pumpin Gravy but sadly they have removed it from their menu and  was Disappointed that i couldn't try their "Sea food bhel" as i sworn upon my best friend that i will try this as i visit this place.

The Gulab nut and chai popsicles were the perfect end to this gastronomical fare.

PS - Old world  charm gets complimented very well by the contemporary rich indian Cuisine - Might not be everyone's cup of tea but this is the place if you are looking for desi food with a twist.
